Looking for an apartment or home is such a stressful process because of all the factors one has to take into consideration; one bedroom or two? bathroom with a tub or shower? Then, after all physical aspects of the space are considered, you have to move on to another make-or-break factor: location. Here are a few tips regarding what you should be looking for when you are searching for a place in the city that never sleeps.

The first thing to consider when searching for a new place in the city is the area. Every quarter of the city has its own characteristics that give you the feeling that you are traveling to and from different towns. So to narrow down your search, it may be easier for you to figure out where you can actually envision yourself living. For this, it is usually recommended that you visit each location allowing you to acquire a sense of the overall character of each.

A few other things to pay attention to when deciding on the location? The proximity of things like grocery stores and public transportation. Whether it be Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, you will most definitely need a place to go pick up food that doesn't require you to walk 10 blocks. Even if you consider yourself someone who can survive with the weekly Sunday delivery of all your produce, there will come a time where the ice cream craving will kick in, and you'll want to walk down in sweats to give in to your indulgence. In terms of public transportation, as much as we avoid the subway, using it will be inevitable. At the end of the day, subways are the quickest way to travel long distances, without dealing with the chaotic traffic that takes place above ground.
